Join us for a joyful, hands-on celebration of food, culture, art, and community! In partnership with Harlem Grown, we’re bringing a day rooted in environmental sustainability, creativity, and connection.

LIVE COOKING DEMOS
Step inside Harlem Grown’s Mobile Teaching Kitchen for interactive, healthy cooking sessions using fresh, seasonal produce. Learn how to prepare delicious, affordable meals while honoring cultural food traditions and sustainable practices.

COMMUNITY PLANTING
Get your hands in the dirt and help bring new life to Weeksville! Whether you’re a seasoned grower or a first-time planter, this guided activity is a chance to nurture the earth and each other.

STARTER PLANT & FREE SEED GIVEAWAYS
Take home a potted herb or veggie seedling to begin (or expand!) your garden journey. It’s our way of helping you stay rooted in wellness at home. Looking to grow from the ground up? Grab a packet of seeds—perfect for windowsills, backyards, and budding gardeners of all kinds!

FOOD JUSTICE & EDUCATION WORKSHOP
Engage in a powerful conversation about food systems, equity, and the deep agricultural legacy within Black communities. This interactive session will explore how we feed ourselves—and each other—with dignity and care.

HANDS-ON ART WORKSHOPS
Get creative with art activities inspired by nature, food, and community. Great for kids and adults alike—no experience needed!

GOODIE BAGS
Kids will leave with special goodie bags packed with everything to grow their own plants at home.

PICKLING WORKSHOP with TONYA HOPKINS
Back by popular demand, the day will feature a pickling workshop and dialogue with Tonya Hopkins, aka The Food Griot! All participants leave with their own jar of delicious veggies.

WEEKSVILLE GREEN MARKET
The full market starts this summer, but we’ll have an early selection of fresh fruit and veggies for sale.

Whether you’re coming to cook, plant, learn, or play, there’s something for everyone!

This event is made possible by a generous grant from Con Edison.
